  • Tyrone Williams
Tyrone uses his photography as a visual diary, focusing on the unnoticed things around him in day-to-day life. Using his photography to redefine what we consider beautiful, and to show the beauty in life’s imperfections.

You may recognise Tyrone from BBC four’s Great British Photography Challenge, hosted by Rankin and co-starring Darklight Art’s Sarah Williams.
  • Our Ethos

Duality is in our DNA — our founders self-describe as polar opposites — but our vision for championing accessibility, diversity, and equality in the art world is a shared one. It informs everything we do, from the prints we sell to the stories we tell. Art is for everyone and there is no one way to be a collector.

  • Sustainability

Although we’re not perfect, we do pride ourselves on our packaging. We use as little as possible and have worked hard to find the most environmentally-friendly packaging on the market.

Our poster tubes and print boxes are eco-friendly, made from recycled content and fully recyclable. On occasion, to improve our carbon footprint, our prints will be shipped direct from our printers in co-branded packaging.

What even is a Giclée print?

Giclée [pronounced G-clay], from the French “to squirt or spray” ;0 is a digital printing process that sprays microscopic dots of pigment-based ink onto high-quality art paper or canvas. It’s often the choice of illustrators and fine artists due to the bright pigments & ability to reproduce highly-saturated colours. Giclées offer a greater range of paper textures, weights & whites with superior archival quality too. Lab simulations of the ageing process of art show fade & colour shift resistance of up to 200 years in ideal conditions. Fancy that.

At Darklight Art, we sell works by visual artists and photographers as both giclées and C-type prints. So what’s the difference? C-types use light sensitive paper and LED/laser light printers, whereas giclée inkjet printing is a dry process, where ink is sprayed directly onto paper in a series of dots, known as a half-tone pattern.

ART IS FOR EVERYONE. ART IS FOR EVERYONE.

Eco packaging pledge

We’ve worked hard to find the most environmentally friendly packaging on the market. Our print boxes and poster tubes are made from recycled cardboard and are fully recyclable. The tube ends are made from recycled plastic and are also recyclable.

Our tissue paper is recycled, eco-friendly and vegan. It's PH neutral and approximately 35% of the electrics used to make it is produced from renewable energy.

For the final touch, our tape is paper based and water activated, so no need for any nasty adhesives or plastics. It’s made from - you guessed it - 100% recycled content and printed with soy ink.

To improve our carbon footprint, some of our prints will be shipped direct from our printers in co-branded packaging *
