WHAT EVEN IS A C-TYPE PRINT?
A digital C-type print is a photographic print made from a digital file rather than a negative. In contrast with the darkroom or analogue technique, a C-type print is developed by exposing light-sensitive material to LEDs or lasers, with the material then washed using methods similar to traditional photography. The “C” stands for chromogenic.
At Darklight Art, we sell works by photographers and visual artists as both giclée and C-type prints. C-types are known to have much more subtlety of tone, known as continuous tone, than Giclée prints. Because of this, C-types have smoother gradients from light - dark, making them better-suited to photographic prints where there are areas of high shadow, and skin tones.

ECO PACKAGING
We’ve worked hard to find the most environmentally friendly packaging on the market. Our print boxes and poster tubes are made from recycled cardboard and are fully recyclable. The tube ends are made from recycled plastic and are also recyclable.
Our tissue paper is recycled, eco-friendly and vegan. It's PH neutral and approximately 35% of the electrics used to make it is produced from renewable energy.
For the final touch, our tape is paper based and water activated, so no need for any nasty adhesives or plastics. It’s made from - you guessed it - 100% recycled content and printed with soy ink.
To improve our carbon footprint, some of our prints will be shipped direct from our printers in co-branded packaging *
